Join us on a wonderful journey to reduce plastic waste. Here you can find out exactly how and why we are doing it. Because every little step counts.
We only use tins made of tinplate. Why? Unlike plastic, tinplate is easy to recycle and can be recycled practically endlessly. Because tinplate is magnetic, it can be fished out of the other waste particularly easily in the subsequent sorting plant after collection via the dual collection systems. This is done using large electromagnets and is not only very efficient, but also very time-saving. If we separate our waste correctly today and throw the can into the yellow bag, it may become a component of a bicycle tomorrow and a car part the day after tomorrow. Recycling couldn't be easier than with tin.
Our bags are made from 100% compostable and biodegradable materials. These materials used for the production of the bags are unique. This is because they are made from agricultural waste. On average, plants consist of 80% agricultural waste and 20% nutrients. Agricultural waste is mainly incinerated and, in the best case, used as an alternative energy source. This is a shame, because with these refills we give waste a second life.
Using the ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) process, lignin is filtered out of the agricultural waste material before it is processed into wood-free fibers. The lignin, together with other fiber material that is not suitable for paper production, is reused to generate green energy in 2 biogas fermentation plants. The best part? Each refill saves an average of 3 plastic toothpaste tubes!
The carbon footprint of shipping packaging can be larger than buying in a store. To reduce this, we use recyclable cardboard packaging with paper tape and plastic-free filling material. Last year we switched from our paper filling material to compostable packaging chips made from plant starch. Not only are they the best option for the planet, they provide reliable protection for our products.
We also make sure that the packaging is the right size (some companies send their products in a box of the same size to save costs) and that it is light yet strong enough to protect our products.
Our production is supplied with solar power. This enables us to save CO2 and increase the sustainability of our company.
