Sustainable packaging for tooth powder: why we rely on recyclable mono plastic
In a world where sustainability and environmental protection are becoming increasingly important, companies are faced with the challenge of offering not only high-quality products, but also responsible packaging solutions. At Dentafari, we have made a conscious decision to use mono plastic packaging - and for good reasons.
What is mono plastic?
Monoplastic is a packaging material that consists of only one type of plastic. In contrast to multi-layer packaging, which often combines different materials and is therefore difficult to recycle, mono plastic is fully recyclable. This means that if it is disposed of correctly, it can be recycled - without the need for time-consuming separation of individual components.
Why not glass or paper?
Many customers ask themselves why we don't use glass or paper packaging. The answer lies in the product itself: Tooth powder is extremely sensitive to moisture and must be stored dry and airtight. Although paper is renewable, it does not offer sufficient protection. Glass is heavy and energy-intensive to produce.
Advantages of mono plastic packaging:
- 100% recyclable (if disposed of correctly)
- Lightweight and therefore CO2-saving during transportation
- Airtight and moisture-proof
- Durable
- Meets the highest hygiene requirements for cosmetic products
"Designed for recycling" - what does that mean?
Our packaging meets the criteria of the "Developed for recycling (plastic)" eco-label. These are the following requirements:
Monomaterial made from LDPE: LDPE is currently considered the most suitable material for flexible packaging, as it is the most widely accepted in the existing recycling infrastructure.
- No carbon black coloration: packaging in black cannot be detected by near-infrared sorting devices and therefore often ends up in incineration. Our bags therefore have a light color.
- No rigid plastic parts: Rigid components in flexible packaging, such as hard spouts, interfere with sorting. Our packaging is made entirely of flexible material.
- Minimum size of 5x5 cm: Many sorting systems do not recognize smaller packaging. Our bags meet this minimum size and are therefore correctly recognized and processed.
This label is not a guarantee for actual recycling, but it shows that the product has been prepared for recycling to the best of our ability. Actual recycling also depends on local infrastructures.
What can you do?
You can simply dispose of the empty refill bags in the yellow bag or recycling garbage can. Make sure they are empty. This enables effective recycling and helps to conserve resources.
Our decision to use mono plastic is the result of intensive research and weighing up sustainability, product safety and functionality. We believe that this packaging is currently the best solution for our tooth powder - for you, for your health and for our planet.
